Monday, September 25, 2017: Dr. Tara Brach

Radical Self Acceptance

Dr. Tara Brach presents her teachings on Radical Self-acceptance; A Buddhist Guide to Freeing Yourself from Shame. This show contains excerpts from a 3 CD set that you can have for a donation of $120.

One of the deepest expressions of suffering is self aversion, a part of what Tara Brach calls the "the trance of unworthiness." Drawing on the wisdom of Buddhist teachings, illustrative stories and the transformative power of meditation, Tara guides us in healing the shame and fear that bind our hearts.

Hello Readers and Listeners,

This is Blue Murov, webmistress for KPFA Women's Magazine. I post the blog for KPFA Women's Magazine so I have the opportunity to listen every week. And every week I learn something new or find out about a news event, book, movie, play or music to check out. Always from a feminist and often from a queer viewpoint. Women's stories and women's voices come to us from all over the world through Women's Magazine. The discussions are informative and profound. So refreshing. Women's Magazine is produced solely by volunteers.

Right now KPFA is in our Fall Fund Drive. Support KPFA so Women's Magazine can continue bringing you this fantastic program. Any amount is very much appreciated. Click here to pledge securely. When you make your pledge please mention that you appreciate Women's Magazine in the comment box at Step 4 (scroll to the bottom of the support KPFA page).

Thanks.

Monday, February 23, 2016: Miki Kashtan on Creating a Nonviolent Future

Hello Friends,

It's that time again. KPFA is in its winter fund drive and I'm asking all of my friends to do what you can to support Women's Magazine and the type of feminist and gender-oriented programming we provide. As you know, we are the only show on the airwaves in the immediate Bay Area dedicated to foregrounding gender issues and women's voices on every show. This is a precious resource and we need to show that listeners value it.

Today Lisa Dettmer talks with internationally known Nonviolent Communication facilitator Miki Kashtan about her vision of a world where we can cooperate fully with each other and where all our needs are attended to which is meticulously described in her inspiring new book "Reweaving Our Human Fabric-Working Together to Create a Nonviolent Future."

Buddhist teacher Joanna Macy describes her innovation in social change theory which follows in the lineage of Gandhi and MLK as blowing the lid off nonviolent communication as a personal development resource expanding its potential to transform the largest systems and norms that govern our world.

The fund drive will continue next week.
