VESSEL
Diana Whitten discusses her film, VESSEL, which chronicles the voyages of Women On Waves, a bold women's health movement bringing women-controlled medical abortion to ports of call around the world. This film follows Dutch physician, Rebecca Gomperts, who in 2001 began a sailing voyage to provide women with safe abortions.
A fearless sea captain sails a ship through loopholes in international law, providing abortions on the high seas, and leaving in her wake a network of emboldened activists who trust women to handle abortion on their own terms.
VESSEL airs at the Roxie on Saturday, June 14th at 4:45 PM and Wednesday, June 18th at 7:01 PM. Tickets are available at sfindie.com.
