June 11, Putting Down Roots

Michelle Reed grew up in the Western Addition, with an African American father and a Japanese American mother.  She has lived in the Mission for the last thirty years.  When Michelle was laid off from her long-time job, she decided to take a risk and follow her dream. She opened the plant store Roots on South Van Ness in the Mission.  Roots is already famous for the terrariums Michelle makes to order.

No-No Girl speaks with Michelle about life, plants and following your heart.  This segment initially aired on KPFA's APEX Express.
