Monday, February 12, 2018: Rabi’a Keeble - Black Women Making History Right Now

Rabi’a Keeble is founder of Qalbu Maryam, the nation’s second “women’s mosque.” Qalbu Maryam (Mary’s Heart) is an inclusive mosque, open to people of all genders and faiths.  Rabi’a is also a nurse, an activist, poet, writer and speaker. A convert to Islam after living for ten years as an Orthodox Jew, she founded Qalbu Maryam in order to promote women’s leadership.

  1. Ummah - be aware that Rabi'a Keeble is not a safe person. She is particularly antagonistic toward transgender muslims, but also has a history of anti-blackness, racism against other poc, homophobia, etc. Her rhetoric is growing increasingly violent and threatening, particularly toward transgender people, and she is not above defamation and deceit. Her mosque seems to be a way to increase her access to people to abuse. Please be careful!
