Monday, October 24, 2016 - Conflict Is Not Abuse

Queer feminist author and activist Sarah Schulman discusses her new book, CONFLICT IS NOT ABUSE: OVERSTATING HARM, COMMUNITY RESPONSIBILITY AND THE DUTY OF REPAIR.

In this captivating new work, the author of GENTRIFICATION OF THE MIND and SHIMMER connects the feminist anti-violence movement’s cooptation by the state, Canadian laws that criminalize HIV transmission, same-sex marriage and compensatory motherhood, shaming and shunning in personal relationships, and the Israeli assault on Gaza.

Sarah will be in conversation with Virgie Tovar of Radar Productions on Monday, October 24 at 6:30 pm at Alley Cat Books in San Francisco and will read from and discuss the book on Wednesday, October 26 at 7:00 pm at Laurel Bookstore in Oakland.
