Monday, April 13, 2015: San Francisco Women Against Rape

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month

Preeti Shekar talks to Sandra Sandoval from San Francisco Women Against Rape about their annual "Walk Against Rape" event, a walk to empower survivors,  and their friends and family to break the silence and declare San Francisco as a  sexual violence free zone. SFWAR, founded 40 years ago, is a women of color led organization to help women in their own communities survive and end sexual violence.


"Walk Against Rape" 3.5 mile walk on Saturday, April 18th:
SCHEDULE
Walk Registration and Start Line @The Women's Building, 3543 18th Street, San Francisco 

10:00am
Registration starts in the Auditorium* 
*AUDITORIUM IS LOCATED ON THE GROUND FLOOR INSIDE THE WOMEN'S BUILDING

11:00am
Walkers Line up at Start Line on Lapidge Street


11:15am
The Walk leaves the Women's Building. The Walk goes west down 18th Street, through the Castro and into the Mission District.

12:30pm
The Walk arrives at Potrero del Sol Park. At 'Potrero del Sol' park walkers will find food, drinks, chocolate, music, The Clothesline Project on display, community organizations offering resources and information, and shady places to sit and enjoy the day!

1:00pm
Program: Schedule of Performers TBA. The program is a dynamic set of performers consisting of the arts such as dance, spoken word, music, and speeches. This is a show you won't want to miss. So sit back in Potrero del Sol park, enjoy the sunshine and your accomplishments of the day and watch amazing performances!

3:00pm Clean Up

  2. Visited there last weekend with a group of friends, and had all the fun we could handle. I really like the ambiance at party places in the Bronx. There's a decent draft beer selection at a reasonable price and the bartenders are good at what they do.
