Monday, December 26, 2016: Strategies in the worst times

Why have things gotten so bad and where do we go from here?

Rachel Herzing

Rebecca Gordon

Rinku Sen

Rinku Sen of Race Forward and Colorlines, Rachel Herzing, cofounder of Critical Resistance and co-director of Center for Political Education, and Rebecca Gordon, author and professor at University of San Francisco join Kate Raphael to discuss strategies and lessons for the current crisis.

"Thinking in decades is crucial."
"Build cultural, social and political movements."
"Love and solidarity will be more important than ever."

Kate says: "These women blew me away with their ability to articulate both critique and vision. I came away more hopeful as well as more determined to be deliberate and strategic in responding to the crisis of democracy in our country."

Monday, February 9, 2015: Last Chance to Support KPFA Women's Magazine this Pledge Drive

It's not too late to donate to KPFA

Thanks so much! to all of you who stepped up last Monday to support Women's Magazine.  We did very well (maybe not compared to the $38,000 raised by the Grateful Dead marathon, but hey ...).

If you didn't get a chance to pledge but want to, you can do it tomorrow at 1:00 pm and let station management - who really look at these numbers - see that listeners value feminist programming and are willing to pay for it.

Remember that only 1 in 8 people who listen to the station ever contribute.  If we could get that up to just 1 in 5, we could cancel the next two pledge drives.  So tell your friends - #KPFAPassItOn.

Thanks again for all your support.  It means the world to us, because you are why we do this!  Oh, and as far as I know, none of us has ever claimed to be under fire in a helicopter that we were not in.  #NotBrianWilliams #SupportFeministRadio

Kate

This week's show hosted by Vylma V and Vika features an update on Marissa Alexander's case and a speech by Michelle Alexander, author of The New Jim Crow.

If you missed Monday's show you can click here to listen now.

Thanks for listening and for your support.
